Pure Luxury at Fiji Intercontinental Club Resort
Intercontinental Fiji Resort
Bula, (hello in Fijian)
After a really hard and emotional year of Greg recovering from testicular cancer, this was our first holiday away and Fiji delivered in so many ways from beautiful white beaches, amazing food, luxury accommodation, the beautiful Fiji services and most of all giving us time to be together and reconnect.
The Intercontinental Fiji Resort & Spa was at the end of our Fiji adventure after beginning at Viwa Island Resort (check out our Viwa Island Resort Blog) and it did not disappoint. From pure luxury accommodation, club privileges such as daily afternoon tea, nightly sunset cocktails, canapes by the pool, Fiji five-star service and how could we not mention the amazing private club infinity pool.
Intercontinental Fiji Resort and Spa is located in the lovely and beautiful Natadola bay, set amongst 25 acres of tropical gardens on Fiji's main island of Viti Levu. The resort is protected by a reef which gives the ocean lagoon its stunning blue color.
Getting to there takes an hour drive from Nadi International airport. Unfortunately, the roads in Fiji are not the best so the 40km drive can feel like it takes much longer and the sign is not easy to see so often tourist if they are driving miss the sign for the turnoff to the resort.
You can arrange with the resort for an airport pickup, take a taxi or in our case we hired a car, which was great for getting snacks and drinks. There is plenty of secure parking.
When we arrived at the resort we were welcomed and directed to a dedicated check-in as. Before we left for Fiji l had signed up as an IHG member which was free. Now did this get us an upgrade to the Intercontinental Fiji Club I am not sure however l will not complain about the upgrade as it was amazing.

The resort is made up of 266 rooms ranging from garden view rooms, beachfront rooms & suites right through to the club intercontinental 1 & 2 bedroom suites, we were lucky to get a 2 bedroom club suite which was bigger than our house. We had a top floor which meant we didn't have our own plunge pool, however, that did not worry us. The 156 square meter two bedroom club suites featured a King bedroom with his & her ensuite that leads out to a private balcony with signature outdoor Cleopatra bath, second bedroom with two single beds and separate ensuite, as well as a spacious lounge and dining area and a private balcony, with day bed.
To get to the club area you need to take a golf cart to the stunning club lounge overlooking Natadola Bay and one of Fiji’s best beaches, Club InterContinental is Fiji’s first ‘Club’ experience offering discerning travellers the exclusivity of a resort within a resort. Club guest enjoys a celebration of exclusivity, luxury and style and the Club InterContinental offers guests an elevated level of hospitality through luxurious accommodation, personalised service, and club benefits.

The night we arrived it was raining so we decided to head down to one of the restaurants for pizza which was nice, however one thing to note about this resort is you are paying 5-star international prices.
After an amazing night sleep, we headed to the lounge and decided to check out the rest of the resort. The staff at the club are wonderful and do everything to go above and beyond to provide you amazing service. They arranged us a cart and while we were waiting offered a coffee to take away on our walk (club guests receive all day coffee, water, and sodas as complimentary).
We also checked out the huge adult only oceanfront infinity pool before we headed back to the club for breakfast.
As a club guest, there are loads of amazing 5-star privileges to enjoy during your stay to really make you feel special.
This includes breakfast at 3 locations around the resort.
- A la Carte at the Club InterContinental Lounge
- Full buffet breakfast at Sanasana Restaurant
- Intimate Breakfast at Navo (adults only)
We ended up having breakfast every morning a the Club Intercontinental lounge.
For us this offered a great variety of breakfast options such as pancakes, bacon, and eggs, fresh fruit, fresh juice, pastries just to name a few and of course who could complain about the amazing view and wonderful Fiji service. If you want anything else just ask and they will make it for you.
As l mentioned it rained on our first night and the next morning after breakfast we had a bit of rain, so we decided that this was an opportunity to try out the Cleopatra path, crack open a bottle of champagne, watch a movie, and relax.
With the club lounge being so beautiful, with amazing views out to Natadola Bay we ended up spending the rest of our time enjoying the club facilities and club privileges.
Each morning after breakfast we headed to the private infinity pool a peaceful haven where we would relax by the pool, read a book, go for a few swims to cool down or cozy up on one of the private poolside rest nests.
There was also all day non-alcoholic drinks at the Club lounge, fruit and snacks and in the afternoon they served a wonderful afternoon tea in the lounge.
Around 4 pm we would normally head back to our room to rest up and get ready for sunset canapés and cocktails which happened for two hours each evening in the in the Club Lounge.
They also had a trio band singing each night and we enjoyed a great variety of wonderful cocktails, beers, canapes while watching the magical sunset over the resort and Natadola Bay, this was always a highlight for us and a great way to end each day.
We have already mentioned however, we will mention them again, the staff at the Club Intercontinental Lounge are wonderful, their service is excellent that they provide to guests. We have stayed at many 5 star resorts around the world and the Fijian service provided by the club staff was outstanding, it never felt fake and seemed like they really loved what they were doing, we rated their service 7 Star.
On our last day, we decided to have lunch in the lounge before we flew back to Auckland we were given a lovely goodbye gift and a free glass of wine with our meal. Such a lovely way to end what was a wonderful time at the Club Lounge.
The Club Intercontinental Fiji really was an amazing end to our Fiji holiday. From spending 3 days with Gregs best mate at the beginning of our trip to 5nights at Viwa Island Resort and then finishing off with 3nights at the Fiji Intercontinental we loved every moment of our Fiji adventure and can't wait to return again soon.
Apart from the Club Intercontinental Lounge, what else does the Fiji Intercontinental Spa and Resort offer?
There are a variety of dining options to satisfy families and couples, as well as world-class a luxury spa, three swimming pools including a family pool, adults-only infinity pool right on the oceanfront and an exclusive club lounge infinity pool. If you are a keen golfer there is also the Natadola Bay Championship 18 hole golf course as well as loads of other five-star resort facilities and activities.
